Saraburi Sugar Co., Ltd.

Company details

The Thai Roong Ruang Group began to set up sugar factories after the end of World War II when there was a shortage of sugar in Thailand. The Government at that time tackled the problem by encouraging private entrepreneurs to set up sugar factories. But they faced the problem of very expensive equipment and parts which had to be imported from abroad. Mr. Suree Asdathorn, the founder of Thai Roong Ruang Group, joined hands with some associates to set up the first sugar factory -- Ruamkamlarp Sugar Factory -- on 7 May 1946 with a registered capital of 450,000 baht. Using his lathing skill, he conducted experiments and invented various parts by himself without the need to order them from abroad. However, it was the belief of the management that the production of sugar from cane crushing should give better results than the production of sugar from brown sugar and syrup. They used their experience in operating sugar factories to conduct experiments, and endeavored to invent, modify and make improvements to machinery and equipment for sugar production to achieve higher production efficiency. Most of the equipment and parts 2 are produced locally, and only those which cannot be made locally are imported.
